Since its establishment in 1913, the CCC has provided Glen Ridge with a nonpartisan method of selecting qualified candidates to run for local government positions. The CCC is not a professional political party, and endorses a slate of candidates that run for election; provides an alternative method for nomination and election without lengthy and costly campaigns. The CCC goal is to minimize destructive and disruptive factionalism associated with small community politics. Persons endorsed by the CCC take no direct guidance and serve as independent, elected officials. Many outstanding citizens, leaders in business and professionals give their time and expertise to serve the Borough. No mayor, councilperson, or board of education member has ever received remuneration for service. For over 90 years the CCC has nominated people of the highest caliber, and – with very few exceptions – has seen its candidates elected without opposition.
